    Title:
The GIS Professional’s Role in NG9-1-1

    Description:
Next Generation 911 (NG9-1-1) aims to upgrade emergency response systems so they can keep up with ever-evolving mobile communication and technology. NG9-1-1 fully embraces GIS technology, bringing it into the center of the 911 system. For NG9-1-1 to function properly, an authoritative, GIS-based collection of features—such as street centerlines, address points, call center jurisdiction boundaries, and the operating areas for emergency service providers (e.g., police, fire, and paramedics) must be available. The work of GIS professionals will contribute to life-critical decisions that rely upon precise GIS data quality. This presentation will provide an overview of the current and future direction of NG9-1-1, the importance of GIS in successful NG9-1-1 deployment and the role of the GIS professional in achieving NG9-1-1 success.

    Presenter:
    Chris Friel, GISP

Title: Preparing Your Data for Smart Cities Using ETL

    Date: Wed, Mar 20, 2019 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM EDT

Smart Cities initiatives aim to provide seamless intelligent citizen services. These services are and will be largely data-driven, which will greatly increase the importance and role of data in their success. This brings data quality, processes, and inter-connectivity into play, as municipalities depend on an increasing amount of information. We will cover different topics including:

    • Implementing data quality processes
    • Breaking silos between systems through data integration
    • Distributing and sharing data out to stakeholders
    • Using automation to implement these processes efficiently across the organization.

    Presenter : Lesley MacKenzie
Lesley graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Arts in Geography. She is passionate about geomatics and has been working in the field for over 14 years. Her main focus is leveraging ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) with the context of data workflow and process optimization.
At Consortech, Lesley provides consulting, training and solution design services on various GIS and IT platforms including Safe Software’s FME Desktop and FME Server. Her motivation lies in helping her customers develop automated data workflow processes so they can focus on the fun stuff, real GIS work! Lesley was one of the first specialists in North America to obtain Safe Software’s FME Certified Trainer and FME Certified Professional certifications.
